Before installing the flowmeter sensor check for possible damage due to improper handling
during shipment. All claims for damages should be made promptly to the shipper.
Warning!
The installation and start-up as well as maintenance may only be performed by appropriately
trained personnel. The start-up procedure described here is begun after the flowmeter sensor
has been installed and the electrical connections completed. The supply power is turned off.
Warning!
The circuits in the flowmeter sensor and transmitter are dangerous to touch. Therefore it is
essential that the supply power is turned off before opening the instrument.
Warning!
Before start-up check to make sure that the installation satisfies the following requirements:
• The flowmeter sensor and transmitter must be grounded in accordance with the applicable
international Standards.
• The interconnection cables and connections must be sized for the expected currents and
correspond to the requirements in IEC 227 and IEC 245.
• For installations inside buildings the supply power is to be protected by a circuit breaker
which must be located in the vicinity of the flowmeter sensor and be appropriately
identified.
• The connections between the flowmeter sensor and transmitter may only be made with the
cable supplied by ABB Automation Products.
• For safe operation it is essential to follow the instructions in this Operating instruction.
• Installations per FM must follow "Installation of intrinsically Safe Systems for Hazardous
(Classified) Locations" (ANSI/ISA RP12.6) and the "National Electric Code®"
(ANSI / NFPA 70 Sections 504 and 505).
• When the housing is opened the EMC and personnel contact protections are voided.
• The surface temperature of the flowmeter sensor may exceed 70 °C (158 °F) dependent
on the fluid temperature.
• In case of FM Class I Div.1 installations the provided signal cable between sensor and
transmitter must exceed 5 m (16,4 ft.) length.
Warning!
It is essential that the Temperature Classes listed in the approval chapter 5.4.2 are observed.
