The safety specifications for the intrinsically safe circuits may be found in the EC-Type
Examination Certificate.
• Care must be exercised to assure that the protective cover over the supply power
connections is properly installed. For intrinsically safe circuits the connection area can be
opened.
• It is recommended that the appropriate cable connectors included with the shipment
be used for the output circuits: intrinsically safe blue; non-intrinsically safe black (not for
Version -40 °C [-40 °F]).
• The flowmeter sensor and the transmitter housing are to be connected to the potential
equalization. For intrinsically safe output circuits potential equalization is to be maintained
along the entire connection path.
• When the flowmeter sensor is insulated the max. insulation thickness allowed is
100 mm (4“).The transmitter housing may not be insulated.
• After the power to the flowmeter system is turned off, wait for a t > 2 min time period before
opening the transmitter housing.
• At start-up, EN50281-1-2 is to be considered for applications in areas with combustible dust.
• The operator must assure when protection ground (PE) is connected that no potential
difference can exist between the protection ground PE and the potential equalization PA,
even during a fault condition.
Special information for installations in Category 1:
• The interior of the meter pipe or meter sizes

DN 50 (2") may be considered as Category 1
(Zone 0). The corrosion resistance of the materials must be considered.

The pipeline and the flowmeter sensor insulation should be installed as shown.
The max. insulation thickness at the flowmeter sensor is 100 mm (4“).
