2. Getting Started
30
Because interrupts are used by the diagnostic program, they must be properly selected
for the diagnostic program to complete its tests. Once selected, the ZT 8995 interrupt
signal must be jumpered to utilize either a backplane signal (factory default is INTRQ*)
or a frontplane signal. This signal must be connected to the processor board interrupt
request input. The CPU interrupt request input should be the same as the interrupt
request (IRQ) selected using the setup program. See the "
Interrupt Selection
" table and
the descriptions for jumpers
W11-14
for more information.
The ZT 8995 selection for IR9 drives the interrupt request on the backplane signal
INTRQ*, which is compatible with all Ziatech factory default jumpered STD 32 processor
boards (INTRQ* is routed to IR9 of their interrupt controllers). See "
Interrupts
" in
Chapter 3 for additional information.
Installing The Drivers
The software driver for each installed ZT 8995 must use the actual parameters you
saved with the
setup program
for that board. The I/O base address, RAM base address,
and IRQ channel used by each ZT 8995 must agree with the values for those
parameters that are used by the board's software driver. Making modifications to the
software driver parameters is described below.
Modifying The Drivers
The method you use to change the software driver parameters depends on your
network operating system software. The ZT 97115 diskette has a separate subdirectory
for different types of software drivers. Your network software should contain information
for installation and use of these drivers.
Loading The Network Software
When the ZT 8995 board and cable are installed and verified, load the network
operating system software onto the system. Use the instructions provided with the
network software package. If a user-installed EPROM is on the board, you may need to
prepare the network software for PROM operation. Refer to the instructions provided
with the PROM device and your network software.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
If the ZT 8995 does not appear to be functioning, follow the steps below to verify
installation:
1. Verify that the network cable is securely attached to the RJ-45 connector (
J2
) on the
ZT 8995-D1 or to the Thin Ethernet BNC connector (J4) or the Ethernet DB15 AUI
network connector (J3) on the ZT 8995-D2. Please review Appendix B and Appendix
C for additional cabling information.
