System Control Functions

Some of the following functions may be present in the system control section of your
console. The abbreviation to the right of the feature is the name typically found on the
button label.

Transmit (XMIT)

Pressing and holding this button allows you to transmit on all selected channels. This is
paralleled with the optional foot-operated PTT switch. Whenever your console is
transmitting, this button’s red LED indicator is illuminated.

Monitor (MON)

Pressing this button causes the selected channel to disable its coded squelch (PL)
decoding, thus allowing you to monitor for activity on the channel prior to transmitting. In
some cases, this channel remains in monitor condition until it is transmitted on. In other
cases, the channel is only monitored while the button is pressed. The red LED on this
button is illuminated while the channel is being monitored.

Site Intercom (SITE I’COM)

Pressing and holding this button allows you to talk to the selected remote base station site
without transmitting over the radio channel. This feature performs the function of an
intercom between you and service personnel at the base station site. The red LED on this
button is illuminated while talking on the site intercom.

Alert (ALERT)

While this button is pressed, you are transmitting an alert or test tone over all selected
channels. The red LED on this button is illuminated while doing so. There may be several
types of alert buttons on your console. If

is pressed while

SITE I'COM

is being

pressed, the alert tone is sent only as far as the base station. It is not sent over the
transmitter.
