on a regular telephone. When your conversation is finished, press the
Phone Release
button to hang up the phone.
Muting the Mic During a Phone Call
The
Mute
button, that normally mutes the Receive audio of the Highlighted channel, will
function as a Mic Mute when a Phone Channel is Off-Hook and Highlighted. Pressing
Mute
will overlay a yellow block on the phone channel’s volume percentage number and
cause the BSY indication to turn off. The phone caller can still be heard, but operator mic
audio will not be delivered to the caller. Pressing
Mute
a second time will reverse the
operation and send operator mic audio to the caller.
Putting a Call on Hold
Pressing the
Answer/Hold
button while the phone is Off Hook toggles the phone to the
Hold mode. The phone receive and transmit audio is blocked and all radio audio is routed
back to its normal destination. The console phone remains Off Hook but does not pass any
audio. Press the
Answer/Hold
button again to return the phone to the active mode (this
can be done by any position).
Transferring a Call to Another Position
To allow another console position to acquire a phone channel currently yours, put the
phone into Hold mode. When the other position toggles that phone channel out of Hold
mode, it acquires and activates it, and locks out all other console positions (including the
original position) from that phone.
Transmitting on a Radio Channel While the Phone is Active
Pressing any transmit button or external PTT switch while the console phone is active
temporarily places the phone in the Hold mode described above, reroute all the audio to
the radio channel, and initiate the radio transmit. When the transmit button is released, the
phone returns to the active state with the Mic and Select audio switched back to it. Note
however, that during this radio transmit, the phone channel cannot be acquired by another
console position.
Patching a Phone Channel
Pressing a phone channel
Patch
button enables its audio to be patched to any other
channel. The phone is put in a mode similar to the Hold mode described above, except that
Note
Although the Zetron Logo stays red and the VU Meter will still
indicate mic activity, as long as the BSY is off and the yellow block
is showing, no audio is being sent to the caller.
