When the selected channel is in PVT call mode, a private call can be placed by clicking
TRANSMIT on the audio panel, the XMIT screen button, or a footswitch. The private call
goes to the private ID of the last private call initiated or received.
There are two types of private calls supported, local and Nationwide Direct Connect
(NDC). When user enters an ID between 1 to 65535, a local private call is sent. When the
ID has one or two asterisks, the NDC Private Call is sent. The supported NDC ID format
is: urban*fleet*member with the following rules:
• The ID is up to 15 characters long and purely numeric except for one or two
asterisks as field separator characters.
• Each field valid range is 1 to 1048575. The binary value of the combined numeric
value of all fields shall not exceed 35 bits in length.
• If there are two fields, the first field is the fleet and second is the member. In this
case, the home urban is used.
• If there are three fields, the first field is the urban, second is fleet, and third is
member.
To call an NDC number within the same fleet, an asterisk and member value are required
but not the fleet. For example: *123, the home fleet and urban is used.
Maintaining a Group or Private Call
Once a group or private call has been set up, the standard TRANSMIT, XMIT, or
footswitch PTT buttons can be used to maintain a conversation on the selected channel.
Initiating a Call Alert
The dispatcher can send a call alert to another radio from the iDEN Call submenu, from
the main video screen, if programmed to do so, or from the Subscriber List window if
enabled. The dispatcher first selects the channel that is used for the transmission, enters
the destination radio ID (either by manual key entry or a Subscriber ID alias button), then
click CALL ALERT. If the alert is successful, “
Alert OK
” is displayed temporarily in
the channel display. If the alert is not successful, “
Alert Fail
” is displayed. The call
alert may be sent to local or NDC ID.
Sending a Status Message
If the iDEN network supports status calls, the dispatcher can send a status call to another
radio from the iDEN Call submenu, or from the Subscriber List window. The dispatcher
first selects the channel that is used for the transmission, enters the destination radio ID
(either by manual key entry or a Subscriber ID alias button), then click STATUS SELECT.
This brings up a Status call selection submenu or subwindow, which shows any
programmed iDEN Status ID aliases (see
). After selecting a
Status ID button or entering the status code (001-255) manually, click “Send Status” to
send the message. Click “Exit” to return to the main iDEN Call submenu, or to the main
Subscriber List window. The status message may be sent to local or NDC ID.
