Receiving a Status Message
A radio in the field can send a status update to the dispatcher. The received status is
displayed in the Call History Window along with the time and radio ID from which the
status was received.
The status numbers can be aliased to 10-character alphanumeric strings.
Receiving a Call Alert
A radio in the field can send a call alert to get the dispatcher to call back. The call alert is
displayed in the Call History window with a status of “
Alert
” along with the time, radio
ID, and channel from which the alert was received.
The call alert condition is automatically answered by the Dual Channel Card software if
call alert response in enabled. This allows continued dispatching operation.
Receiving an Emergency Alert
When receiving an emergency call, the channel box indicates the radio ID or alias as in the
normal voice call, but the ID is flashing and in red. An alarm also sounds if configured in
RDPS that is cancelled when the dispatcher sends an emergency acknowledge message to
the unit that declared the emergency or transmits on the channel where the emergency
alert was received. The emergency display may also be cleared with
Review ANI
key and
the audible alert may also be deactivated with
Alarm Ack
key.
The emergency alert is displayed in the Call History window with a status of “Emergency”
along with the time, radio ID, and channel from which the emergency alert was received.
Initiating a Selective Call
To make a selective call, first select or enter the destination radio ID, then click
Selective
Call
. If the selected radio does not have a revert channel programmed, you must select a
channel for the transmission. You may now press the
Xmit
to activate the transmission.
When the selective call mode is configured for toggle mode,
Selective Call
shall remain
pressed after the transmission, and the same destination ID is used for subsequent
transmissions until the
Selective Call
is toggled. When the mode is configured for
"momentary", the
Selective Call
is deactivated after the first transmission.
The revert channel and selective call mode are configured using the RDPS program.
Initiating a Call Alert
The dispatcher can send a call alert to a radio from the MDC-1200 Call submenu, from the
main video screen if programmed to do so, or from the Subscriber List window if enabled.
The dispatcher selects the channel to be used for the transmission if no revert channel is
configured for the destination radio, enters the destination radio ID (either by manual key
entry or a Subscriber ID alias button), then presses the
Call Alert
button. If the alert is
successful, “
Alert OK
” is displayed temporarily in the channel display. If the alert is not
successful, “
Alert Fail
” is displayed.
