Ranking combination function 

(Note) While the 

 Pre-combination Ranking mode and 

 Combination Weighing mode are available for the 

Ranking combination function, you cannot use the weighing results obtained in the Pre-combination Ranking 
mode for transactions or certifications stipulated by the Measurement Act. You can use the weighing results 
obtained in the Combination Weighing mode for transactions or certifications stipulated by the Measurement 
Act. 

 

*  When "NOT LEGAL" is displayed in the lower left of the display, you 

cannot use the results for transactions or certifications stipulated by the 
Measurement Act. 

 

  Ranking combination function   

 

Application 

This function is used to reduce variations in the weight of packs prepared by Fixed weight 
packing work. 

Weighing 
method 

 Pre-combination Ranking: The system 

shows the rank of items based on the

 Combination weight measurement: 

Ranked items are combined to determine, 
by the instrument, whether the combined 
weight fall within the allowable range. 

 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Advantage 

By combining ranked and sorted items, you can pack a set of allowable weight items more 
easily. 

Setting values 

• Weight measurement of at least 10 samples 
• Number of items to be combined in a pack 
• Number of ranks for sorting

 The Ranking Combination function automatically determines the optimum weight ranges for each rank, based 

on the specified number of ranks and the measurement results of samples. 

• Setting the number of ranks to a larger value leads to a better combination accuracy, a higher yield rate, and 

smaller variations. (You can set 3 to 9 ranks.) 

• You can use the Ranking Combination function under the condition that items are normally distributed. Note 

that you may not obtain the correct weight measurement values depending on a biased average value of the 
unit weight, the variations in the unit weight, or the settings of the upper and lower limits. 

 

  Ranking combination function - How to register/edit the numbers through regular setup   

[Example] To select the program number 5 and set the quantity of combined items (the number of items in one 

pack) to 3 and set the number of ranks to 6

Before registering program data, set the user parameter #01 to 

5

 on the 

user parameter setting screen. * For how to set a user parameter, refer to 
[Section 4-3]. 

 

Turn on the power, and then press 

. 

"rnk" appears, and the last two digits are a program number. 
* Pressing 

  on the right screen returns to the previous weighing 

screen. 

* If the indicated program contains registered data, the blue lamp comes 

on. 

 

Each item of adjacent ranks is combined to 

get allowable weight.
