Electrical system

Checking the charge coil

Remove the CDI unit cover.

Connect the test harness to the charge
coil.

Measure the charge coil output peak volt-
age. Replace the stator assembly if less
than specification.

Disconnect the charge coil coupler.

Connect the digital circuit tester to the
charge coil coupler (charge coil side).

Remove the engine temperature sensor.

Place the engine temperature sensor in a
container of water and slowly heat the
water.

Measure the engine temperature sensor
resistance. Replace the engine tempera-
ture sensor if out of specification.
