Protection against Hazardous Touch Voltages
Provide touch-proof protection
Provide all the wiring of the measurement setup with touch-proof protection and
corresponding warning signs.
Use only standards-compliant sensors, and pay attention to the technical
data
Use only voltage sensors approved per IEC 60044-7 (new version: IEC 61869-7)
and current sensors per IEC 60044-8 (new version: IEC 61869-8), and do so in
accordance with the information in the section “Technical Data.”
The 3 voltage measuring paths are not electrically isolated from the
3 current measuring paths
The N connection represents the device-internal reference potential for all
electrical measurements.
Unwanted additional potential differences between the N connection and the
current connections can lead to incorrect measured values and the destruction of
the I/O module.
All N connections of the I/O module must be set to PE in the sensors.
Observe limit values
Ensure that all limit values indicated in the technical data are observed (both
upper and lower limits)! Otherwise, the device could be destroyed.
Observe applicable standards and regulations
During installation, connection and use of the I/O module, observe all relevant
current regional, national and international standards, installation requirements
and accident prevention regulations.
No hazardous voltage occurs on the measurement inputs when the I/O module is
used with appropriate voltage and current sensors according to the
specifications. The voltages on the measurement inputs lie in the range of a few
volts.
However, it is essential to follow the sensor manufacturer’s safety instructions.
