Setting the correct thread tension

Help

Upper thread tension dial

When using special fabrics, you will have to determine the thread tension by trial
and error.
Sew a test seam on a cotton tea towel folded double to test and evaluate the
thread tension.

W6 tip

The correct thread tension is pre-set for you by W6 WERTARBEIT.

14.2.3

Loosening the upper thread tension

Turn the upper thread tension dial to a value less than 4 to slacken the upper
thread tension. As a result, the upper thread is pulled further to the wrong (under)
side of the fabric, in line with the counter-tension principle.

14.2.4

Increasing the upper thread tension

Turn the upper thread tension dial to a value greater than 4 to increase the upper
thread tension. As a result, the upper thread is pulled further to the right (top) side
of the fabric, in line with the counter-tension principle.

14.2.5

Checking the lower thread tension

The lower thread tension must only be checked if adjusting the upper thread
tension does not lead to a satisfactory result.
