•
Insert a neatly wound W6 original plastic bobbin in the black hook race.
•
This means: Hold the plastic bobbin between your thumb and index finger
in your left hand. The lower thread must hang down the left side!
•
Now place the plastic bobbin in the hook race and hold it in place with the
right index finger. Using your left hand, pull the lower thread backwards
through the two metal slots on the left-hand side of the black hook race
(between 7 o’clock and 9 o'clock position when you hold a watch next to
it).
•
Do not insert the metal needle plate yet, so you can still visually check the
black hook race.
•
Hold the fully threaded upper thread very firmly with your left hand.
•
Using your right hand turn the hand wheel slowly forwards towards you
and check whether the upper thread is running smoothly under the black
hook race.
•
The upper and lower thread form a loop towards the feed dogs.
•
Is a thread getting caught in the black hook race area (usually in the 3-7
o'clock area when you hold a watch next to it)?
•
Then there is an undiscovered needle strike here. Tip: sand it away or buy
a new hook race (spare parts on the W6 Wertarbeit website).
•
If the hook race is too badly damaged or worn, it must be replaced (spare
parts on the W6 Wertarbeit website).
14.3.11
Fitting the needle plate
Put the needle plate back on and fasten it with the two screws.
Use the sewing machine to sew a test seam in straight stitch (set stitch length
3.0).
14.3.12
Using plastic bobbins
(only original W6 WERTARBEIT bobbins)
Please note that the sewing machine can only create a proper seam if the lower
thread is wound correctly.
Do not use the bobbin under any circumstances
•
If knots have developed,
•
If the bobbin is unwound unevenly,
•
If the bobbin is wound too loosely.
Incorrectly wound bobbins can cause damage to the hook. Take note of the
correct threading path when you wind your bobbin. Check the correct threading
path in your manual under “What do I do with the lower thread?”.
If necessary, wind the thread twice around the winding tension disc so the thread
is wound up more smoothly and tightly.
