Detailed Installation
For novice or first-time installers, these steps provide the most thorough and accurate instructions.
Use of the Provided Scribe
A small metal scribe is provided to assist in marking an accurate hole size in a ceiling tile. Use as follows:
1. Place a ceiling tile on a large flat surface, face up.

2. Measure and make a small mark at position

from corner (11.9 in./302 mm). Refer to Figure 4.
3. Measure and make a small mark at position
B
(8.2 in./208 mm), placing the Scribe as
perpendicular to the
A-
edge as possible.
4. Place the Scribe across positions
B
and
C
.
Rotate the Scribe around center
C
for a full turn.
5. Cut out the circle, using a sharp tool, on the
scribed line.

Ceiling Mount Model, No Ceiling Access Provided
This version of Surveyor2000 mounts in the ceiling
and rests on the ceiling material occupying the space
between the lower ceiling and upper building frame.
There are 2 methods of installation. The first method
is for ceilings with no access to the space above, as
in a typical hard material ceiling. The second method
is used for a ceiling with access, as a dropped ceiling
(metal grid type). All mounting hardware is provided.
From Below the Ceiling (no access to the
space above)
The camera drive is removed from the enclosure. The
ceiling hole is cut using the scribe and the enclosure
is prepared with flexible conduit or cabling below the
ceiling. The enclosure is then lifted up through ceiling
hole and the flipper screws are turned and tightened
against the ceiling. Then the camera drive is hung
from the enclosure’s safety cord, wired, configured
and screwed back into the enclosure. The indoor
lower dome is then snapped on. The Surveyor2000 is
secured with the flippers. The Surveyor2000’s
horizontal position is determined by the hole
placement. Refer to Figure 5 for installation details.
