Battery

APM  400/600

Figure 7-2 Incorrect connection method

The batteries must be connected firmly. Once connection is complete, calibrate the screw connections

between all the terminals and the batteries. The torque values indicted in the specifications or user manual
provided by the manufacturer must be respected.

The connections between all the wiring terminals and batteries should be inspected and tightened at least

twice a year (bi-annually). Failure to observe this condition may result in the risk of fire.

The batteries must be visual inspected before they are accepted or used. In the event of any discrepancy,

damage, dirt on the terminals, terminal erosion, rust, cracked cases, deformation, or leaks, replace the affected
batteries with new ones. Failure to do so may reduce battery capacity, cause electrolytic leakages or even result
in fires.

Figure 7-3 Damage incurred during shipping and state of affected battery after a week of normal charging

Batteries are very heavy and should be handled and moved carefully in order to avoid personal injuries and
damage to the equipment. Severe damage to the battery may result in fires.

Avoid applying forces, such as cable pulling or twisting forces, to the battery terminals, since doing so could

damage the internal battery connections, resulting in the risk of fires.

The batteries should be installed in clean, cool, dry place. Avoid installing batteries in a sealed battery

chamber or sealed room. The battery room ventilation must at least meet the requirements of EN 50272-2001.
Otherwise, this may result in battery bulging, fire, and even severe injury.

Batteries must be kept away from heat sources or heating devices (especially fire sources or transformers)

Do not connect conductors between the positive and negative terminals of a battery. Remove any jewelry,

rings, watch, necklace, bracelets and other metal items before handling the battery. Tools, such as a wrench,
should be protected with insulating material. DO NOT carry any metal items. Ensure all tools are protected by
insulating material in order to avoid battery burns, severe injuries, and even death.

Do not dismantle, modify, or demolish the battery as it may result in a short circuit, liquid leakage, or even
