18.9.2 Read Button: Pressing the Read Button loads the current settings from
the Scaler into the utility’s memory. Reading this data does not unload the
Scaler’s memory. It merely copies it to your PC.
Read Scaler Function
As explained earlier, you should check the top three selections but it is not
necessary to check the Testcard checkbox unless you plan to perform some sort
of activity on the testcard data.
18.9.3 Program Button: Pressing the Program button yields the program Scaler
screen. If the Program action is taken all the way through (by checking the
appropriate checkboxes and then clicking “OK”), the utility will load its
configuration contents into the Scaler. If you did not perform a “Read” function as
explained above, the utility’s memory will contain random data resulting in
unpredictable results when loaded into the Scaler. The Program Button can
therefore be thought of as a quick recovery method whereby you load the normal
conditions into the memory, make some sort of adjustment to the operating
conditions of the Scaler and then press the Program button to revert to the
original condition.
