the “File” section of the tool bar. Using the Exit menu item instead of the “X” box
to quit a program is called “Gracefully Exiting.”
“File” Toolbar Item
18.1.2 Tools Toolbar Item
The “Tools” menu item provides access to several functions associated with the
utility. We’ll take a moment to look at each of these items so you’ll be better
acquainted with their operation.
“Tools” Toolbar Item
The “Bring Scaler Online” item is selected ‘On’ by default and is normally not
accessed. The other items are very important to the utility set up however and
we’ll look at the “Communications”, “Presets”, “Testcards” and “Advanced” items
individually.

Selecting “Communications Port” from the toolbar menu exposes two sub menu
items: Communications Port and Multiple-Unit Control. (Early firmware also had a
feature called “Auto-Detect” but with the expansion of capability to Ethernet
access, this feature is no longer available.)
