Using Total Control MIBs
3
From this point on, as SNMP SETs are made to devices
through the NMC's proxy agent, the cache for that slot is
updated with the change. The values in the cache are saved in
the NMC's NVRAM upon the invocation of a saveToNvram(2)
command. These are the values that are used by the NMC in
doing an autoconfigure operation.
None of the NMC's configuration parameters are cached like the
NAC-specific parameters. They are always restored from the
NMC's NVRAM. The MIB objects defined under nmcUiCfg are
also not cached and never saved to NVRAM. A separate storage
facility in the NMC's EEPROM is provided for these settings.
NMC Configuration Command Descriptions
Command
Description
noCommand(1)
This is the default value for nmcCmdFunction.
Setting nmcCmdFunction to this value will abort
any command that is currently in progress.
saveToNvram(2)
This command saves the current configuration
cache contents for the device in each slot to
Flash NVRAM on the NMC. In addition, it saves
the current state of each of the NMC's
configurable parameters. The exception to this is
the parameters that are part of the nmcUiCfg
group. These are the same parameters that are
configurable from the NMC's local console serial
port. These parameters are saved to EEPROM
by a separate NMC command (see
saveUiParamsToEEPROM below).
restoreFromDefaults(3)
With the exception of the nmcUiCfg group, all
other configurable NMC parameters are restored
to their default state by this command. In
addition, this command restores the cache for
each slot to the default values for the given card
type. After defaulting the cache, the cache
contents are used to reconfigure each device to
the default state. For the most part, this
command restores the entire chassis to the
factory default configuration, with the exception
of the IP addresses, etc., of the nmcUiCfg group,
which are treated separately.
