Getting to Know Windows 95

Lesson 5: Starting Programs

Windows 95 opens the Windows Explorer and adds another
button to the taskbar.

Windows Explorer open on the desktop

The Windows Explorer provides access to all your computer’s
resources. For example, it lets you see all the files in a particu-
lar folder on the computer’s hard drive.

Notice the taskbar now has two buttons on it, one for Paint and
one for Windows Explorer.

5 Click the Paint button on the taskbar.

Windows 95 displays the Paint program. You can move back
and forth between the two programs by alternately clicking
each button.

Windows 95 places the active window on top of other win-
dows on the desktop unless you have resized the windows.
