What’s Really
Going On?
By now, you've probably become pretty good at using your com-
puter. However, you may be curious as to what is really going on
while you're pounding away at the keyboard. This chapter gives
you details of how your computer works.
What Is a Computer?
In one sense, your Satellite 200 Series is a computer. Technically
speaking however, the processor chip, where the actual computing
takes place, is the computer. All the other components are outside
the computer because they either provide information to the pro-
cessor or receive the results of the processor's computations.
What Other Batteries Does the Computer Have?
In addition to the main battery that powers your system when
you're away from an AC outlet, your Satellite 200 Series computer
has two other batteries:
