Troubleshooting

Unable to Establish Communications With an RCD

The RCD does not display a command prompt:

1.

Press the RCD

Enter

key several times.

2.

Verify that the RCD is properly cabled to the

J1 Remote Control

port on the back of the

TDR7.

3.

If the RCD is a stand alone computer, verify that the RCD has a
communications software application running that is capable of
performing asynchronous communications.

4.

If the RCD is a network management host computer, verify that the
RCD has a terminal emulation program running that is capable of
performing bisynchronous communications.

5.

Ensure that the RCD and the

TDR7 are powered up.

6.

Use the control front panel to configure the

TDR7 to the DVB

defaults. For procedures on configuring the

TDR7 to the DVB

defaults, see

Sample Configurations Using the Control Front Panel

section in

Chapter 5. Until you have successfully established

communications between the RCD and the

TDR7 you should

operate with the DVB defaults.

7.

Configure the communications parameters of your RCD to match
those of the

TDR7 DVB defaults. DVB default settings are listed in

the

Remote Control Device DVB Default Settings table in

Chapter 4.
