If you link when you

are not

signed in to the instrument

In this scenario, your local instrument profile name is created automatically at the
time that you link. The same user name is used for your local instrument profile and
your Connect profile. Plates and results are accessible when you sign in with either
profile.

If you link to Connect when you

are not

signed in to the instrument:
