Connecting the Inlet and Outlet Tubing
Y
To connect the inlet and outlet tubing to the detector
1. Remove the plugs from the IN and OUT ports on the front panel of the RI detector. Do
not discard the plugs.
2. Connect one end of the stainless steel inlet tubing supplied in the accessory kit for the
RI detector to the IN port as shown in
.
3. Do one of the following:
• If the RI detector is the only detector in the system, connect the other end of the inlet
tubing to the outlet of the LC column.
• If the RI detector is the second detector in the system, connect the other end of the
inlet tubing to the outlet of the flow cell of the first detector as shown in
4. Connect the 0.060 in. ID
×
1/16 in., Teflon™ outlet tubing to the OUT port.
5. Connect other end of the outlet tubing to a waste bottle.
CAUTION
Because the flowcell of the RI detector cannot withstand a backpressure
greater than 517 kPa (75 psi), the RI detector must be the last component in solvent
path of the LC system. Do not connect another detector, back pressure regulator, or
narrow-bore tubing to the OUT port of the RI detector.
