Pulse Generator mode
The
DTG5000 Series
Data Timing Generator operates as a pulse generator that
outputs a simple pulse pattern. The Pulse Generator mode is designed to easily
output simple pulse patterns. It does not support the editing feature that the Data
Generator supports.
To switch between the Data and Pulse Generator modes, push the PULSE GEN
button on the front panel, or click the Data Gen/Pulse Gen button at the left end of
the Status bar on the screen.
Features
The following are the features and restrictions of the Pulse Generator mode, as well
as the differences from the Data Generator mode:
Use the Level, Timing, Time Base, and DC Output windows for setting purposes.
The Pulse Generator mode does not contain the concept of group or channel
assignment. It sequentially uses all the channels of the installed output module.
However, you can switch the view between View by Group and View by
Group Channel.
Even if you have set up Master-Slave operation, you can use only the channels
of the master machine.
The Pulse Generator mode supports neither the sequence definition nor pattern
definition feature.
You can use all the channels of the output modules installed in Slots A to D.
You can specify the Pulse Rate to Off, 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, or 1/16 for each channel.
You can select either Continuous or Burst for the run mode. The Continuous mode
outputs the pulse consecutively without waiting for the trigger. The Burst mode
outputs the pulse the specified number of times after waiting the trigger. If you
have set 9 (times) for Burst and 2 for Pulse Rate, the analyzer outputs the pulse five
times because it divides 9 by 2 and rounds up the quotient (4.5).
The Pulse Generator mode does not contain the concept of format (NRZ, RZ,
R1). While internally performing Long Delay with the RZ waveform, the Pulse
Generator mode controls Delay, Width, Slew Rate, and so on.
The Pulse Generator mode represents each channel in the format of
“mainframe number-slot name channel number”.
