Jitter Generation
This section details the Jitter generation of the DTG5000 Series.
Jitter generation on the DTG5000 series
The jitter generation function that the DTG5000 Series allows you to write a
pattern in RAM in advance and move the delay value of the signal of Channel 1 by
the value of that pattern. You can select Sine, Square, Triangle, or Gaussian Noise
for the jitter pattern. Because Channel 2 is used for jitter generation, it will be not
available for signal output.
Two modes are available for jitter type: All, which swings the whole and Partial
By, which allows jitter to be partially inserted. You can select “Rise only,” “Fall
only,” or “Both” for the edge(s) where jitter is applied.
The following restrictions are imposed on jitter generation:
It is enabled when Long Delay is off in the Data Generator mode.
In the Pulse Generator mode, a jitter generation is disabled.
The jitter can be applied only to Channel 1 of Slot A of the master.
Using channel combination while CH2 of Slot A is used for internal jitter
generation means that CH2 is otherwise unavailable, so any attempt to assign
CH2 is rejected.
Channel 2 of Slot A is internally used for jitter generation. Channel 2 will thus
be disabled, so any attempt to assign CH2 is rejected. However, because the
jitter generation function uses the CH2 circuit on the mainframe side, the
function can be used with DTGM31 and DTGM32 output modules.
For the same reason, the channel composition function of Channel 1 is
disabled.
In the DTG5000 Series, the timebase for pattern generation (clock) and for
jitter generation is entirely independent of each other (async); no repeatability
is included in the characteristics of jitter generation. In addition, there is no
guarantee that jitter generation starts at the head of the jitter profile.
