Master-Slave Operation Procedure

During the Master-Slave operation, multiple DTG units are communicating 
together through the LAN. 

Before connecting the

LAN cables

Before connecting the LAN cables, make sure that all the master and slave units 
have their unique computer names on the network. If multiple DTG units have the 
same name, rename them. If multiple units of computers have the same name on 
the network, it can cause a trouble with the Master-Slave Operation.

Connecting the LAN

cables and starting the

computers

After checking that each DTG unit has a unique computer name, connect the LAN 
cables and restart the computers.

Configure the master and

slaves with the DTG5000

Configuration Utility

To configure the master and slave units, exit the DTG5000 software and use the 
DTG5000 Configuration Utility.

When you configure the master unit with the DTG5000 Configuration Utility, 
you cannot browse the slave units unless the LAN cables are connected.

„

The computer names or the IP addresses are required to specify the slave units.

Restarting the DTG5000

software

After configuring the master and slave units using the DTG5000 Configuration 
Utility, start the DTG5000 software on the slave units first, and then start it on the 
master unit. The DTG5000 software on the master unit cannot start until it detects 
that the DTG5000 Series that were specified as slave units actually operate as its 
slaves.

After the slave units and the master unit are started, the parameters for all 
channels are displayed in the Channel Group, Data-Waveform, Data-Listing, 
Timing, and Level windows on the master unit. Perform all operations on the 
master unit such as assigning channels, creating and editing pattern data, and 
setting each output parameter. The operations are the same as those in the 
single unit system except for the increased number of channels that become 
available on the master unit.

DC Output signals of the slaves are also output from their connectors.

You can turn on or off the channels of all units by pressing the ALL OUTPUTS 
ON/OFF button on the master unit. The ALL OUTPUTS ON/OFF button can 
be operated only on the master unit.

External Clock Out is output only from the master unit.
