Preparing to Service the System 61
Note – Additional information about powering off the server is located in the Sun
SPARC Enterprise T5120 and T5220 Servers Administration Guide .
1. Log in as superuser or equivalent.
Depending on the type of problem, you might want to view server status or log
files. You also might want to run diagnostics before you shut down the server.
Refer to the
Sun SPARC Enterprise T5120 and T5220 Servers Administration Guide for
log file information.
2. Notify affected users that the server will be shut down.
Refer to your Solaris system administration documentation for additional
information.
3. Save any open files and quit all running programs.
Refer to your application documentation for specific information on these
processes.
4. Shut down all logical domains.
Refer to the Solaris system administration documentation for additional
information.
5. Shut down the Solaris OS.
Refer to the Solaris system administration documentation for additional
information.
6. Switch from the system console to the
->
prompt by typing the
#.
(Hash
Period) key sequence.
7. At the
->
prompt, type the
stop /SYS
command.
Note – You can also use the Power button on the front of the server to initiate a
graceful server shutdown. (See “Power Off the Server (Power Button - Graceful)” on
page 62 .) This button is recessed to prevent accidental server power-off. Use the tip
of a pen to operate this button.
