About This Guide

This guide describes how to install, configure, monitor, and maintain the
Spectra

®

nTier500™ Backup and Archive Appliance (referred to as the

nTier500) using the BlueScale web interface. It also provides product
specifications.

This guide is intended for data center administrators and operators who
maintain and operate backup systems. The information in this guide
assumes a familiarity with RAID technology, Fibre Channel, and iSCSI
using 1Gigabitb per second (Gb/s) and 10Gb/s Ethernet. It also assumes a
knowledge of technical tasks such as configuring a Windows operating
system, installing drivers, and configuring network connections. You also
need to be familiar with installing, configuring, and using data backup and
archival software.
