Use your standard Windows procedures to back up or create an image
of the nTier500 system. In the event of a crisis or disaster, you can use
this backup to quickly restore the nTier operating system, applications,
and settings.

Some configuration operations require working directly with the Windows
Storage Server operating system. After you connect to the operating
system using one of the methods described in this section, you work
directly with the features provide through the operating system.
If you are unfamiliar with the Windows operating system or the Windows
Remote Desktop application, refer to the Windows Storage Server
documentation available from Microsoft for detailed information (see
Microsoft Windows Operating System and Software on page 14
).
Connect to the Windows Operating System
Connect to the Windows operating system using either of the methods
described in this section.
Use a Direct Connection
Connect a keyboard, mouse, and monitor to the nTier500 application
server to access the Windows operating system directly (see
Figure 3 on
page 22
for the connector locations). Log in using the same user name and
password that you use to connect to the BlueScale web interface. See
Log
Into Windows on page 69
for additional information.
Notes:
Using a USB keyboard and mouse eliminates the need to
restart the nTier500 to recognize these devices when you
connect them.
If the nTier500 is already powered on, you will need to power
it off before connecting the monitor (see
Restart or Shut
Down the nTier500 on page 93
).
