Chapter 5.  Managing RXT Firmware

Firmware update tasks include:

•

Upgrading RXT Firmware

 using the latest firmware on Spectra Logic’s web site

• Optional: Upgrading multiple RXT drives quickly with 

User Firmware

 you’ve stored 

on a RXT media pack

• Optional: Storing RXT firmware on RXT media packs, as a redundancy safeguard, 

with 

User Firmware

• Upgrading RXT drive firmware so that the drive can read data on the RXT media 

pack, using 

Auto Firmware 

stored on the pack

Upgrading RXT Drive Firmware

Upgrading a Single RXT Drive

To update an RXT drive’s firmware, copy the updated firmware to a local host, then 
use the web interface to load the updated firmware onto the drive.

 

Download 
firmware from 
Spectra Logic’s 
web site to the 
host.

Download the firmware from the 
host to the RXT drive.

Optionally, repeat for every RXT drive on your site.

Alternately, update other RXT drives using the User Firmware option.
