Assembly instructions
Intended use
The CLU5 pulse lubrication system with
modular timed lubricator PDYS and separate
monitoring electronics and oil supply unit
SA/B is used for cylinder lubrication of large
Wärtsilä 2-stroke crosshead engine designs
RI-lex35 and WX40.
The CLU5 pulse lubrication system may
only be operated with approved paper ilter
elements (or approved, cleanable stainless
steel ilter elements) with a ilter mesh of 25 µm.
The CLU5 pulse lubrication system can be
used to pump all mineral oils up to and
including class SAE 50 with an operating
viscosity (kinematic viscosity) between 25 and
2 000 mm
2 /s.
The use of synthetic oils requires prior
approval from SKF Lubrication Systems
Germany GmbH .
Any other usage is deemed non-compliant
with the intended use and could result in
damage, malfunction, or even injury.
1. Safety instructions
The CLU5 pulse lubrication system is manu-
factured in accordance with the generally
accepted rules and standards of industry prac-
tice and with occupational safety and accident
prevention regulations. Risks may, however,
arise from its usage and may result in physical
harm to persons or damage to other mate-
rial assets. The CLU5 pulse lubrication system
may only be used in proper technical condi-
tion and in observance of the assembly and
operating instructions.
In particular, any malfunctions which may
affect safety must be remedied immediately.

and commissioning.
General information
Non-compliance with the safety instructions
can endanger persons
as well as the environment and the device.
Non-compliance with the safety instructions
nulliies any claims for compensation for
damages. The results of non-compliance can,
for example, include the following risks:
Breakdown of important functions of the
machine/system
Failure of prescribed methods of mainte-
nance and repair
Hazard to persons due to electrical,
mechanical, and chemical exposure and
maintenance
Environmental hazard due to leakage of
hazardous substances.
In addition to the operating instructions,
general statutory regulations and other
binding
regulations for accident prevention and
environmental protection (recycling
/disposal) must be observed and applied.
Dangers of non-compliance with safety
instructions
