8.4 CHANGING STRAP QUALITY
AND STRAP DIMENSIONS
a) Changing strap quality
Before definite change of strap quality or manufac-
turer, tests should be run to determine the operating
safety of the machine with the new strap.
Of major importance are the dimensional accuracy,
composition of the surface and dimensional stability of
the strap. In all cases and particularly when changing
from PP to PET or vice-versa, the optimum sealing
temperature must be determined. It may be necessary
to adjust the contact pressure of the feed wheels (set
spring travel), see operating instructions H 3000.
b) Changing strap thickness
The use of thinner straps can lead above all to faults in
the strap feed owing to the reduced stability.
When using thicker strap it should be checked whether
this is cut off. It may be necessary to increase the spa -
cing between flaps and strap guide. The sealing tempe -
rature must be checked in all cases.
c) Changing strap width
The same strap width must always be used. If strap
with a different width from that specified must be used,
all strap guide components of the sealing head depen-
dent on width must be exchanged.
8.3 REPLACING STRAPPING HEAD
Removal
– Remove the electrical connector (Fig. 8/1).
– Unscrew the strap guide channel (Fig. 7/3) and swi-
vel the lever (8/4) of the strap guide channel to the
right and release the strap guide channel from the
strapping head.
– Loosen two cylinder head screws (8/2) a few turns
on the left and right side of the strapping head.
– Loosen two cylinder head screws (8/3) a few turns at
the bottom left and right of the strapping head.
– Pull the strapping head back approx. 20 mm.
– Fasten strapping head with hoist and remove up-
wards.
– Repair or replace strapping head.
Installation
– Re-installation is in the reverse sequence.
