4.2.4 MODES OF OPERATION
A difference is drawn between normal and special
operation:
–
Normal operation
The machine is in normal operation when the packa-
ge are strapped automatically without intervention
by the operator. The machine then always starts
from the initial position.
–
Special operation
The machine is in special operation when it cannot
comply with normal operating conditions. This is the
case when refilling operating material and during
fault elimination, cleaning and maintenance. The sa-
fety fence door remains open and work is performed
with the enabling button (see Table 4.1).
Normal operation
For normal operation it is assumed that the machine is
correctly connected to the mains and switched on and
that the main switch and control voltage are switched
on. The strap is inserted in the strapping head and the
machine is at the initial position.
Initial position of machine
1. Strapping head at initial position (0°-position)
(see operating instructions for H 3000).
2. The control voltage is switched on and the
„Reset“ button is pressed.
3. The carriage is in the top initial position.
4. The carriage is in the the rear position.
5. The proximity switch “Dispenser block down“ is
covered.
6. The door of the safety fence is closed.
The switching elements in the initial position
circuit of the machine interrupt the drive of the
conveyor unit with the signal exchange if the machine is
not at the initial position.
If the machine is switched off, safety contactor 32.0K2
interrupts the initial position circuit.
Result:
The conveyor unit can only run when the ma-
chine is switched on and the safety circuit is acknow-
ledged.
In „Automatic“ and „Cycle“ modes the machine can only
be started when it is at the initial position and no fault
is present. If this is not the case, the fault must first be
eliminated and then the machine driven to the initial
position in the „Manual“ operation mode.
4.2.3 SIGNAL EXCHANGE
E) Signals from customer
Electrical connection diagram page 33.0,
terminal stem X11.
All signal inputs for strapping machines must
be electrically isolated, respectively supplied with
our control voltage 24 V DC terminal 1. Exception
EMERGENCY-STOP terminal 3/4 and 5/6.
E1) EMERGENCY-STOP external (continuous
signal), path 1, terminal 3/4 and 5/6.
This signal is supplied by the conveyor control
unit to the strapping control. Contact open when
external EMERGENCY-STOP operated.
E2) Strap cycle start (continuous signal), path 3,
terminal 1/7.
This signal is supplied by the conveyor control
unit to start a fully automatic strapping cycle.
Continues until „Strapping ended“ signal A3 is
supplied.
E3) Conveyor stopped (continuous signal), path 4,
terminal 1/8.
This signal is supplied by the conveyor control
unit to block the possibility of the machine
starting. Contact open while conveyor device
running.
E4) Package not finished (continuous signal), path
5, terminal 1/9.
This signal is supplied by the conveyor control
unit to move up the strapping head from the
package into a intermediate position.
A) Signals to customer
Electrical connection diagram page 33.5 and
33.6, terminal stem X11.
All inputs are electrically isolated. They can be
supplied with a voltage of 230 V AC/DC on the
input side.
A1) Conveyor enable (continuous signal), path 0, ter
minal 40/41.
This signal is supplied when the machine is at the
initial position, the doors of the safety fence are
closed, the „Reset“ button is pressed and the
EMERGENCY-STOP button is not operated.
This signal is used to block the conveyor drive.
In the event of malfunction of a part of the plant the
signal „conveyor enable“ (with switched off con-
troller) can be done by closure the seperating
terminal.
DANGER
: This release the conveyor
permanently. During normal operation, this function
may not be used.
A2) EMERGENCY-STOP (continuous signal), path
1, terminal 43/44. Contact open when operated.
A3) Strapping cycle completed, path 2, terminal 55/56.
This signal is supplied when the machine has
reached the initial position following a strapping
cycle and until the „Strapping start“ signal E2
switches off, but at least 0.5 second.
The signal is only supplied when the mode of
operation switch is at „Automatic“.
The description refers to a generally
authoritative
signal
exchange.
For
detailled signal exchange, refer to electrical
diagram, page 33.0, 33.5.
