The SBC safety function is standardized

The SBC function is defined in IEC/EN 61800-5-2:
"The SBC function supplies a safe output signal to control an external brake."
⇒ The SBC inverter function is in conformance with IEC/EN 61800-5-2.

Application example for the SBC function

Example

Possible solution

After a hoisting gear stops, the inverter must close

the brake in order to minimize the risk of the load

falling.

● Connect the motor holding brake to the

inverter via Safe Brake Relay.

● Select STO when the drive stops.
