5.1 Getting Started
Before you start to work with the unit, please follow the steps below:
1. Check that the consignment you have received is complete (refer to Section
1.3)
2. Check whether a protective foil is fitted to your display. You will find instructions
on fitting the protective foil in Section 11.4.
3. Insert the battery in the battery compartment as described in Section 2.3.1. The
device must also be connected to the main power supply using the power
supply unit supplied before you use the unit for the first time. After
approximately 5.5 hours, you can be sure that the main battery and backup
battery are completely charged.
Turning on your MOBIC
Once you have completed the steps above, you can turn on the unit by pressing
the on/off button.
When you first turn on the MOBIC, you will be requested to calibrate the touch
screen.
Calibrating
Follow the instructions displayed to calibrate your screen. The calibration program
displays a crosshair in the middle and at each corner of the screen one after the
other. Tap with the pen exactly in the middle of the displayed crosshair.
When you have tapped the last of the five crosshairs, a dialog is displayed. Tap on
the screen within 30 seconds if you want to save the new calibration settings. If
you do not tap the screen within the 30 seconds, the new calibration settings are
ignored (see also Section 11.6).
Setting the Time
Once you have calibrated the screen, you should set the time of day. Tap the
“Date/Time” icon in the Control Panel of Microsoft Windows CE
(Start - >Settings - >Control Panel) and set the current date, time and time zone.

You can still make a wide range of further individual settings in MOBIC
configuration.
