When loosening the crankcase bolts, loosen
them in the opposite order used for tighten-
ing.
Selecting the crankshaft journal
bearing
When replacing the crankshaft journal bear-
ing, select the bearing as follows.
1.
Check the stamped marks
a
on the
crankcase.
2. Select the bearing color
b
for the crank-
shaft journal bearings from the table.
Assembling the cylinder block
Do not reuse an oil seal or piston pin clip,
always replace it with a new one.
1. Assemble the piston 1 , connecting rod
a
, piston pin 2 , and piston pin clips 3 .
TIP:
• Face the protrusion
b
on the connecting
rod
a
in the same direction as the “UP”
mark
c
on the piston crown.
• Do not align the piston pin clip end with the
groove

in the piston pin boss.
2. Install the oil rings

, 2nd ring

, and
top ring

.
TIP:
• Make sure that the “T” marks

of the 2nd
ring
f
and the top ring
g
are facing
upward.
• Make sure that the piston rings move
smoothly.
3. Offset the piston ring end gaps. NOTICE:
Do not scratch the pistons or break
the piston rings.
