Section 4: STARTUP
4.0 Introduction
This section describes the first startup of the gyro. Gyro will be run at 1000 rpm and 9700 rpm to check
system operation.
Also reference Seakeeper Document # 90052, Model 7000A Gyro Operation Manual.

Before continuing, the area around the gyro must be clear of personnel and
equipment!

Before continuing, cooling installation (Section 3) must be completed.
4.1 Startup Instructions
1) Check that all cables are securely connected to controller and drive. The gyro-mounted PCB
Control J-Box should only have 1 receptacle connector, J5, unused but capped. The Motor Drive
J-Box should not have any unused receptacle connectors, but it will contain an unused, but
plugged, cable gland.
2) Energize 24 VDC supply at the customer supplied electrical disconnect.
The DC circuit breaker for the Gyro should remain ON at all times except for service.
3) Supply 220 VAC to Motor Drive Box at customer supplied electrical disconnect. Switch toggle
handle breaker on drive on. A delayed click should be heard from internal contactor.
