user unsets the system. If you do not want to use a name the system gives
the default names: Zone 01, Zone 02, and so on. In the log, the system
reports events relating to a zone by using the zone number, for example
Z01.
Use Menu 32 to program each detector as a single zone. Give each zone a
type, and attributes, for example Normal Alarm with Omit Allowed.
While using Menu 32 you should also assign any Flexi-Zones that are
needed. A Flexi-Zone is a zone type that can be used whenever you want a
zone to change type according to the Level of setting in use. Since an Area
can belong to more than one Level, and each Level can have different entry/
exit routes, then a zone with type Final Exit at one Level may need to be a
Normal Alarm at another Level. In Menu 44 (described below) you can
program which zone type a Flexi-Zone will have in each Level. In the exam-
ple, Area 1 contains a Flexi-Zone in the hall PIR (zone 2).
Group the zones into Areas. Each Area is a set of detectors in the same
physical area. The 808 can use up to four areas. Each area provides the
smallest part of the alarm system that can be set. In the example, Area 1 is
the ground floor of the house, Area 2 is the first floor, Area 3 is an external
garage, and Area 4 is the office.
Use Menu 41 to allocate Areas to Levels. A Level is a group of Areas that
can be set or unset at the same time. Each Level can be thought of as a
different level of security. The 808 provides up to four Levels, labelled A, B,
C and D. Each Level can have its own Exit Mode, Entry and Exit Times,
Alarm Response, and Re-Arm Response. LEDs on the keypads show the
status of each Level.
Scantronic recommend that you assign the most frequently used level of
security to Level A. If users set the system by keying in their access code
and pressing Enter, then the system always sets Level A.
When programmed for the example:
Level A sets Areas 1, 2, 3 and 4 corresponding to a Full Set (the most
frequently used security Level).
Level B sets 1, 3 and 4, corresponding to a Night Set.
Level C sets Areas 3 and 4, for when the house is in use but the garage and
office are locked.
Level D sets Area 4, which protects the office only.
Use Menu 44 to assign Flexi-zones to Levels. A Flexi-Zone can be a Normal
Alarm, Final Exit, Not Used or Entry Route for any Level in which it appears.
You cannot assign more than four Flexi-Zones to one Level. In the example,
the Flexi-Zone 2 in the hall is an Entry Route when Level A is set, and a
Final Exit when Level B is set. This means that when Level B is set and the
