machine feeds a cover. When the machine runs out of cover page the cover holder
table goes down automatically (Vacuum error message appears ont he display and
by
clicking on this message it disappears and binding job can be resumed). At this time
the cover can refilled and then manually – as it used to be after cover refilling – a
cover must be brought over the binding station. The table goes up but cover feeding
does not happen. Depending on the binding method if the binding is timed or not;
the clamp returns to its home position. When the binding time is adjusted on the
display and the cover holder table reaches its upper position the carriage clamp
returns when the adjusted binding time passed. In that case if the binding time is
adjusted to 0 seconds the clamp returns when the operator pushes the „carriage
opening-backward” button. After that the binding process can be resumed.
B.) The automatic book measuring function is OFF:
In this case the side gluing disks and the scoring wheels are adjusted to first book
thickness which was loaded into the clamp. Cover feeding can be automatic (the
cover feeder brings the next cover paralelly the returning of the carriage) and
manual as well. When the cover feeder runs out of cover the same happens as it is
written in the point A.) i.e. the cover holder table without cover goes down
automatically. The closed clamp stays over the binding unit. The cover holder table
can be refilled now and irrespectively of the way of binding (if binding time is not 0
i.e. it is timed or not) the operator must push „carriage opening-backward” button to
open and send the carriage back to its home position and to lift the cover holder
table up. After that the binding process can be resumed.
5. 10. Scoring unit
The thickness of the document
defines the width of the
scoring of the cover. It also
must be adjusted. The
adjustment can be automatic
and manual as well. The
automatic adjustment happens
in the SETUP menu. You can
find the description about it in
the section of The working and
actuation of the machine in the
chapter 8. 5, Measuring of the
thickness of the book. The
manual adjustment also
happens in the SETUP menu.
We can use it for correction if
we do not find the width of the
scoring appropriate. The distance of the scoring wheels must be adjusted depending
on the thickness of the coverpage. The depth of the
scoring can be adjusted by this
function to be optimal. It
can be regulated by the help of the manual arresting lever
found at the end of the unit.
