5.6.1. Draining of the glue pot
The glue tank has to be heated up and the glue has to be
totally liquid. By pushing either the red Stop button or the
emergency stop the glue rollers stop. The reason why the
moving parts must not move is that the glue has greasing
function and in the lack of glue the parts can be damaged. The
machine keeps the temperature of the glue at the adjusted
value.
After opening the draining tap the glue can be emptied into a
heat resitant vessel.
If the glue emptied totally after closing the tap the glue tank can be refilled again.
Since the temperature of the tank is stable the refilled glue pellet starts to melt.
The operator has to wait until the glue is liquid and homogene totally because if the
operator activates the moving parts too early because the mechanism can be
damaged or jam can be caused if the glue is in pellet form. When the glue is melted
totally then the green Start button can be pushed or the emergency Stop button can
be pulled out to start the glue rollers, and motor.
5. 7. Binding unit
This unit binds the book effectively. The coverpage
is taken here, what is stuck onto the spine. The
closing-up steelplate and the sidepress steelplates
provide for the shape of the bookspine. This is a
pneumatic unit, so the suitable pneumatic
adjustment is very important to the smooth
operation. Rack gear leading provides for equable
pressing of the spine in the binding unit even if it is
a short booksize. We can determine the time period
of the pressing of the spine by the adjusting of the binding time. The binding unit
and the carriage clamp release the book automatically when the time is over, and the
book falls into the ejecting slide by the help of opening-down steelplate. The carriage
clamp leaves the binding unit just when the sensor built in the slide signs that the
book falls out from the binding unit.
