Remote Control of RN.301.MI
In order to remot e control gain and phantom power of the RN.301.MI from the Yamaha digital mixing
console the Remote Control Cable needs to be connected.
The Remote Control Cable connects the HA REMOTE connector (DB 9) on t he front panel of t he
RN.341.MY interface card with either the REMOTE or HA REMOTE connector (DB9) of the Yamaha
digital mixing console (please see operating manual of the respective Yamaha product).
The pin-out of the Remote Control Cable is given in the appendix of this manual.
As soon as the Remote Control Cable is connected the Yamaha remote control protocol is embedded
into the RockNet transport protocol and travels through the CA T.5 network connection. No additional
cabling is required.
In case more than one RN. 341.MY interface card is used in a Yamaha digital mixing console only one
RN.341.MY needs to be connected to the console via the Remote Control Cable.
The Remote Cont rol Cable should be connected to the RN. 341.MY interface card with the lowest
DROP Quad number.
E XAMPLE:
Yamaha M7CL (48) equipped with 3 (three) RN.341.MY.
Card in slot 1 is set to factory preset number 1 (Drop Quads 1 - 4)
Card in slot 2 is set to factory preset number 2 (Drop Quads 5 - 8)
Card in slot 3 is set to factory preset number 3 (Drop Quads 9 - 12)
The Remote Control Cable should be connected to the RN.341.MY in slot number 1.
If the cable would be connected to e.g., the RN.341.MY in slot number 2 the first four Quads (channels
1 to 16, equals two RN.301.MI) would not be remotely accessible from the console.
The configuration of the RN.301.MI channels (gain and phant om power) is linked to the Quad number.
This means that the configuration of the 4 (four) channels that belong to an ADD Quad of a RN.301.MI
travel trough the RockNet audio network wherever they are assigned in the net work and always re-
main the same input faders of the console (unless the internal routing of the console changes).
As soon as the Remot e Control Cable is connected t he RN.301.MI that are addressed are under con-
trol of the respective Yamaha digital mixing console regarding gain and phant om power settings. Any
changes of these channel parameters on the front panel of the respective RN.301.MI devic es will be
immediat ely overwritten by the console to the value set from the console.
In case RockWorks is used the channel label windows of the RN.301.MI channels that are under con-
trol of the console are marked with a red background to indicat e that the respective channel parame-
ters cannot be changed from the PC.
RockWorks provides the “Edit Preset Window” (please see next chapter and RockWorks manual)
which allows to define the number of emulated preamps. A preamp is an RN.301.MI device.
E XAMPLE:
Yamaha PM5D equipped with 4 (four) RN.341.MY.
Preamp count of RN.341.MY interface card in slot number 1 (one) is set t o 6 (six) in factory preset
number 1 (one).
This means that the first RN. 341.MY interface card emulates 8 (eight) RN.301.MI microphone pream-
plifiers and gives remot e control access to the 48 channels of those RN. 301.MI.
