Macro Commands

6.9.1
Creating Macros
Macros consist of a number of ASCII commands stored in a text file. Macros cannot be
created directly in the
Linx DVI Switcher
. Macros are created as text files from a suitable text
editor (Microsoft Word for example) and copied to the
Linx DVI Switcher
internal compact
flash card using FTP (see
Downloading Macros
in the following section).
File names for the
Linx DVI Switcher
compact flash card should be no more than 23
characters in length. Upper and lower case characters and numbers may be used but do not
use spaces or the / or \ characters.
There are no requirements for a header or title in the macro file, but it is always a good idea
to use comments in the file to document sections of the file. Comments are denoted by the
“#” symbol and can appear anywhere on a line. All text to the right of the “#” symbol will be
ignored by the
Linx DVI Switcher
, but valid commands to the left of the symbol will be
executed. The ability to “comment out a line” is supported by this capability.
6.9.2
Downloading Macros
After a macro has been created, the macro file can be copied directly to the compact flash
card using standard file transfer protocol (FTP).
Examples
To enable only outputs 2, 6, and 15 and disable all others, use the following
commands:
outen all off
outen 2 on; outen 6 on; outen 15 on
The macro begins by disabling all outputs, and then turning each of the specified
outputs on. The outputs are enabled together.
To load preset 17, add the routing of DVI input 1 to DVI output 6, and then save the
new routing to preset 18, use the commands:
recallpst 17
route 1 dvi 6 dvi
svpst 18
Example
Download the file “trm.txt” to the
Linx DVI Switcher
.
■
Establish an FTP session via the command window or an FTP client. See
Transferring Files
for details.
■
Copy the file to the
Linx Switcher
ftp folder.
■
From the serial port or Telnet command line interface issue the command:
macrosave trm.txt
The macro file “trm.txt” will then be saved into the “/macro” folder on the
Linx DVI
Matrix Switcher
’s compact flash card.
