Plug
• Check the electrode clearance and the state of the spark plug. The electrode clearance enlarges due to
natural burning off and must therefore be checked occasionally with a feeler gauge and adjusted if necessary.
The target value is 0.7 mm.
• Plug is coated with soot or coke: Clean the plug with a brass brush and compressed air.
• Plug is coated with oil: Wash the spark plug with a degreaser or with petroleum ether and blow it clean with
compressed air.
• In both cases make the mix thinner.
• In doubt, replace the plug. Before (re)inserting the plug, clean the plug seat and check the joint washer.
Air filter
The air filter insert must be examined for defects (holes, etc.) regularly and be replaced when required. The air filter also must be cleaned and re-
oiled regularly.
The air filter prevents dirt from getting into the engine with the intake air. Foreign objects sucked in between the cylinder liner and the piston cause piston jams,
which destroy the engine and result in subsequent damage to the power train.
• Clean the air filter with petroleum or low viscosity machine oil (air filter oil, accessories).
• If you want to clean the air filter with a detergent and water, rinse it thoroughly afterwards. Otherwise, soap residue could get into the engine and damage the
lubricating film.
• Oil the air filter afterwards with air filter oil. Dust particles stick to the air filter – oiling the air filter means that even the smallest dist particles are held back, when
otherwise they would reach the cylinder through the air filter.
• Never drive without an air filter!
• Clean the air filter housing with a brush or with a moistened cloth.
Driving at adverse atmospheric conditions and ambient conditions
The RC system components are not water-proof!
Close the receiver box carefully by not only snapping the lid into place but also by pushing the latch forward.
