Spreading dry salt
Observe the following when spreading dry salt:
Use the RWK AX 220 agitator when spreading sand or moist salt.
Do not exceed the maximum PTO speed of 540 rpm or a spreading disc
speed of 230 rpm.
Disengage the PTO drive before transport trips.
Disengage the drive to the spreader if the metering slider is closed – also for
short periods.
Open the metering slider until the agitator can discharge the sand or moist
salt in an unhindered manner.
Engage the PTO shaft at low tractor engine speed slowly in order to prevent
damage to the agitator drive.
Always use the RWK AX 220 agitator when spreading sand or moist salt.
Always switch off the agitator when the hopper is empty.
Learn how to install and remove the RWK AX 220 agitator using the relevant
operating manual. See also Chapter
9.5.1: Removing the agitator, page 93
.
Due to the hygroscopic effect of salt, only use the spreader with a tarpaulin
over the hopper.
Avoid long-term storage of salt in the hopper.
n
WARNING
Risk of injury caused by spreading material.
Ejected spreading material can cause injury.
Do not spread if there are persons in the danger area.
NOTICE
Under ideal conditions, and depending on its quality, dry salt can also be spread
using the RWK AX 140 agitator.
NOTICE
Cleaning the machine after each use prevents deposits forming on the floor of
the hopper. This reduces the wear on the agitator mechanism and increases the
operational reliability of your spreader.
