Service and maintenance
Service and maintenance work involves additional hazards that do not occur dur-
ing operation of the machine.
Take particular care when carrying out maintenance and repair work. Work
very carefully and with awareness of danger.
3.7.1
Qualifications of maintenance personnel
Welding and work on the electrical and hydraulic systems must be carried out
only by qualified technicians.
3.7.2
Wear-prone parts
Observe the maintenance and repair intervals specified in this operating man-
ual exactly.
Also observe the maintenance and repair intervals for third-party compo-
nents. See the supplier documentation for the relevant intervals.
We recommend that you have the condition of the single-disc spreader
checked after each season by your dealer, paying particular attention to its
guards, fixing components, hydraulic system, metering parts (such as meter-
ing slider and agitator), spreading vanes, and spreading disc.
Spare parts must at least comply with the technical standards specified by the
manufacturer. This is assured with genuine spare parts.RAUCH
Self-locking nuts are designed to be used only once. Always use new self-
locking nuts to fasten components (e.g. when replacing vanes, changing the
maintenance cover).
3.7.3
Maintenance and repair work
Always switch off the tractor engine before all cleaning, maintenance and re-
pair work and when troubleshooting. Wait until all rotating parts of the ma-
chine have stopped moving.
Make sure that no unauthorised person can start the single-disc spreader.
Remove the ignition key from the tractor.
Check that the tractor is correctly parked with the spreader. Park the spreader
with an empty hopper on level, firm ground and secure it to prevent it from
moving.
In addition, secure the raised spreader against falling (e.g. using a support
block) if you must carry out maintenance and repair work or inspection under-
neath it.
Depressurise the hydraulic system before all maintenance and repair work.
Disconnect the power supply before working on the electrical system.
Open the maintenance cover on the hopper only after the spreader has been
switched off.
Open the safety guard in the hopper only after the spreader has been
switched off.
If you must work while the PTO shaft is rotating, make sure that nobody is
near the PTO or the universal drive shaft.
