Word Description
Connector
panel
The panel on the left side of the BioRobot M48. It contains
the power switch, the socket for the power cord, the fuse box,
and the connectors for the computer cables.
Cooling and
heating
system
A component of the BioRobot M48 that accommodates a
cooling block and cools or heats the tubes in the block. The
2 cooling and heating systems are designated as Heat/Cool
Block 1 and Heat/Cool Block 2.
Cooling block A block that accommodates 48-tubes on a cooling and
heating system. There are 3 types of 48-tube cooling block:
2 ml (fits on Heat/Cool Block 1 and 2), 1.4 ml, and 0.2 ml
(the last two fit on Heat/Cool Block 2 only). Note that the
cooling block for 2 ml tubes on Heat/Cool Block 1
accommodates 1.5 ml tubes only.
Disposable
tip
A item of labware that is picked up by a tip adapter during
operation of the BioRobot M48. Liquid is aspirated into and
dispensed from a disposable tip. A disposable tip is also the
location where separation of MagAttract magnetic particles
occurs.
Error code
A 1–3 digit number that indicates a particular error of the
BioRobot M48.
Error log
code
A code that is listed in the error log window. An error log
code includes the error code plus other information.
Error log
window
A window that is open at the same time as the QIAsoft M
user interface. It contains the error log. It also contains the
system log, which can be saved and sent to QIAGEN if an
error is encountered during operation of the BioRobot M48.
