Peltier
cooling and
heating
systems
One system accommodates a cooling block containing
1.5 ml tubes.
The other system accommodates 3 types of cooling block:
one with 1.5 ml or 2 ml tubes, one with 1.4 ml tubes, and
one with 0.2 ml PCR tubes.
Both systems have a temperature range of 5–90ºC
(41–194ºF).
UV lamp The 260 nm UV lamp is controlled by the QIAsoft M software
and allows sterilization of the interior of the BioRobot M48.
Bar code
reader
An optional bar code reader connects directly to the
keyboard and allows the bar codes of samples to be scanned
into the QIAsoft M software during setup of a protocol.
Specifications of an example bar code reader:
• Interface: keyboard interface for DOS/V
• Connector: Mini-DIN-6 pins or DIN-5 pins
• Light source: Red LED
• Read distance: 0–30 mm
• Reading width: 65 or 80 mm (2 types)
• Power source: DC 5 V (needs AC adaptor); <200 mA
Suitable bar codes are: EAN 13, EAN 8, UPC-E, UPC-A,
CODE39, CODE96, CODE128, CODABAR (NW-7),
UPC/EAN with supplemental codes 2 of 5 Interleaved, 2 of 5
Standard.
Disposable
tips
Attach to the tip adapters of the pipettor head to allow liquid
aspiration and dispensing. Capacity of 1200 µl.
The BioRobot M48 accommodates up to 3 tip racks (84 tips
per rack). Maximum capacity is 252 tips.
