BioRobot M48 — General
Description
The BioRobot M48 workstation is controlled by an external
computer and performs fully automated nucleic acid
purification from up to 48 samples using MagAttract
magnetic particles. The automated steps include:
• Lysis
of
samples
• Binding of nucleic acids to magnetic particles
• Washing and elution of nucleic acids
The user selects a protocol in the QIAsoft M software and
follows the on-screen instructions to load samples, reagents,
and labware onto the worktable of the BioRobot M48. The
user then closes the workstation door and starts the protocol,
which provides all the necessary instructions for the
BioRobot M48 to carry out the automated nucleic acid
purification.
The aspiration and dispensing of samples and reagents and
the separation of magnetic particles are performed by the
6-channel pipettor head. The temperature of samples may be
regulated by 2 Peltier cooling and heating systems during the
purification procedure.
