If the tyre pressure warning has appeared on
the on-board computer, stop immediately at a
suitable location. Check the tyre for signs of
damage. If necessary, fill in tyre sealant and
set the correct tyre pressure.
This tyre pressure warning appears when driving
and can be acknowledged.
The tyre pressure warning light on the instrument
panel goes out when the tyre pressure has been
corrected.
System learning
Tyre Pressure Monitoring begins to “learn” the
wheels after
a wheel change, wheel transmitter
replacement or update of the tyre settings
. During
this process, Tyre Pressure Monitoring recognises
the wheels and their locations.
The on-board computer displays the message
“TPM is learning – monitoring not act.”.
Tyre Pressure Monitoring requires a certain
amount of time to learn the wheels.
During this
time, the current tyre pressures are not available
on the on-board-computer:
– The display of the Tyre pressure function of the
on-board computer shows lines.
– The required pressures for cold tyres (20 °C
(68 °F)) are indicated on the Info pressure
display in the Tyre pressure menu.
– Tyre pressure warnings are issued without tyre
pressure and position information (
Figure
) as
soon as the vehicle's own wheels have been
recognised and the tyre pressure warning light
has gone out.
Position and pressure information is displayed as
soon as Tyre Pressure Monitoring has assigned
the wheels recognised as belonging to the vehicle
to the correct wheel positions.
The wheel learning process takes place exclu-
sively when the vehicle is being driven.
f
Manually check the tyre pressure at all wheels
and correct the tyre pressure to the required
value.
Changing a wheel and replacing tyres
f
New wheels must be fitted with radio transmit-
ters for Tyre Pressure Monitoring.
Before tyres are changed, the battery charge
state of the wheel transmitters should be
checked.
Consult a qualified specialist workshop. We
recommend a Porsche partner for this work as
they have trained workshop personnel and the
necessary parts and tools.
f
Switch the ignition off when changing a wheel.
The tyre settings on the on-board computer must
be updated after changing a wheel.
A message appears if the characteristics of the
new tyres do not agree with the on-board
computer settings.
f
Update the on-board computer settings when
the vehicle is stationary the next time.
The warning light in the speedometer lights up:
– When a loss in pressure has been detected.
– If Tyre Pressure Monitoring is faulty
– When learning newly fitted wheels/wheel trans-
mitters, as long as the vehicle's own wheels
have not yet been recognised.
The tyre pressure warning light on the instrument
panel goes out only when the cause of the fault
has been rectified.
