Practical Tips, Minor Repairs

Winter tyres

Warning!

Risk of accident due to excessive speed.

Always observe the permissible maximum

speed of the respective winter tyre.

Affix a sticker showing the maximum permis-

sible speed in the driver's field of vision.

Observe the country-specific laws.

Fit winter tyres to both axles in good time

before the cold season begins.

Your Porsche partner will be pleased to advise

you.

Before fitting new tyres, find out about the

current approval status.

Use only tyre makes tested and approved by

Porsche.

Maintenance note

We recommend fitting winter tyres on the vehicle

at temperatures below 7 °C (45 °F) since the

driving performance of summer tyres is reduced

at low temperatures. Summer tyres may be

permanently damaged at extremely low tempera-

tures.
Winter tyres lose their suitability when their tread

depth falls below 4 mm.

Changing a Wheel

When wheels are removed, mark the direction

of rotation and position of each wheel.

Example:

FR (front right), FL, RR and RL.

Always fit the wheels in accordance with their

marking.

Note

It can be useful during the winter to carry a hand

brush and a plastic scraper for removing snow

and ice, and dry sand for moving off on icy slopes.

Snow chains

Snow chains can be fitted to the rear axle only,

with the tyre/wheel combinations listed in the

Technical Data.

Use only the fine-link snow chains recom-

mended and authorised by Porsche so that

sufficient clearance between the wheel well

and the chain is assured.

Before fitting chains, remove accumulated ice

and snow from the wheel well.

Observe the applicable national regulations

regarding maximum speeds.
