Sport Mode
A sportier car set-up is obtained and the
overboost function is activated when Sport mode
is switched on. Interventions by the Porsche
control systems are intentionally shifted towards
greater agility and driving performance:
– PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Manage-
ment) is automatically changed to Sport mode,
resulting in a stiffer suspension setup.
– When Sport mode is active, the Tiptronic S
switches to a sporty gear-changing map and
shortens the gear shifting times. Gear
changes take place faster.
Precondition:
The engine speed of 3300 rpm must be
exceeded once for at least 2 seconds.
– PSM (Porsche Stability Management) control is
sporty. PSM interventions take place later than
in Normal mode. The driver can manoeuvre the
vehicle with greater agility at its performance
limits, without having to dispense with the
assistance of PSM in emergency situations.
– The electronic accelerator pedal reacts
sooner, and the engine is more responsive to
throttle inputs. When Sport mode is switched
on, this function is activated only after the
driver has floored the accelerator pedal or
released it briefly.
– The rpm limiter characteristic is “harder”, i.e.
the engine is immediately throttled when the
performance limits are reached (only in manual
selection mode for vehicles with Tiptronic S).
– Overboost briefly increases the
engine boost pressure by approx. 0.2 bar
in the engine speed range from 2100 rpm to
approx. 4000 rpm. This increases torque in
this speed range by 60 Nm. This considerably
improves acceleration and flexibility, particu-
larly in the medium engine speed range. This
does not affect the maximum power. Quickly
flooring the accelerator pedal activates the
overboost function in the engine control unit.
An arrow appears next to the boost pressure
display. Overboost has an effective operating
time of approx. 10 seconds. After this time, it
can be re-activated by quickly flooring the
accelerator pedal again.

Switching Sport mode on and off
f Press SPORT button in the centre console.
When Sport mode is switched on, the light-
emitting diode in the SPORT button is lit.
